Local Chapters
Local Chapters of the Anglican Use Society may be formed in any place where there are persons interested in the Anglican Use. Typically they may consist of a group of Anglican Laity who are considering entering into full communion with the Catholic Church.
Under the Pastoral Provision for Roman Catholics coming from the Anglicans Tradition, they are encouraged to maintain the patrimony of worship and parish life which they had in Anglicanism. The Book of Divine Worship is their prayerbook, and their congregations are exuberant with activity as is common in many Anglican parishes. Some of these groups have grown to become large and vibrant Anglican Use Parishes in the Catholic Church, but they all started out small.
A group of people may organize in a community as a local chapter of the Anglican Use Society to promote the Anglican Use in that place. This may mean meeting once a month or even more frequently. A group such as this should regularly pray together, even if it is only saying Morning Prayer or Evening Prayer from time to time. Ideally, such a group could obtain the permission of a friendly Pastor of a Catholic Church to be allowed to say Morning Prayer in the Church or in a chapel prior to attending Mass together. Such a priest might be willing to celebrate the Anglican Use from time to time for the group.
The most important thing for such a group is to contribute to the prayerful liveliness of the parish. Some day, perhaps, they will become a congregation of their own, and may even build a beautiful church in the English style as the Parishes of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston and Our Lady of the Atonement in San Antonio have done.
The Officers of the Society are willing to help groups get started.
